不同中文字體變化對內文閱讀舒適性之影響

實務上現代華文印刷字體主要是基於閱讀上的方便性及文字的美觀而設計。觀察近30年台灣的華文文字編排設計的研究，有著重在功能性的研究趨勢，如閱讀易讀性、視覺搜索等。這是由於編排設計的根本目的就是文字的閱讀性，但是達到了功能性的滿足後，還需要更高的視覺滿足。基於上述動機，本研究採用心理美學中的美學實驗方式為基準，採用「排序法」進行參與者內單因子實驗設計（within-subjects design），以12個不同字體及字重的紙卡樣本進行閱讀感知評量，從116位參與者的回饋，藉此瞭解使用不同字體做內文的編排時，其閱讀的視覺舒適性。研究結果顯示：（1）視覺功能性不同於視覺舒適性，其中無襯線（Sans-Serif）的字體有較佳的視覺舒適性。（2）藝術設計背景的訓練，確實影響審美偏好，與未受過設計相關訓練的參與者相較之下，其閱讀視覺舒適性認知有異。因此，進行一般書籍編排設計時，設計師應從讀者的角度考量視覺舒適性偏好。（3）當字體有粗細變化時，會產生視覺舒適性的差異。雖然部分非設計背景參與者偏好粗體字，但平均來說，仍是以細體及中體有較佳的視覺舒適性。本研究結果可做為設計相關產業的參考以及未來深入研究的基礎。

In modern Chinese typography, the convenience of the reader and the aesthetic appearance of text are important considerations. Research on Chinese text layout and design has mainly focused on the functionality of text such as legibility and visual search accuracy. However, the basic purpose of layout and design is not only the readability of text but also achievement of visual satisfaction. This study used the aesthetic appreciation experimental method of psychological aesthetics to understand the influence of different layout fonts on the visual comfort of readers. The research results were as follows: (1) Visual functionality is different from visual comfort;(2) Training in an art or design background influences aesthetic preferences; and(3) Changes in font produce changes in visual comfort. The results of this study can serve as a reference for the field of design and related industries, as well as a basis for future in-depth research.
