This paper consists of two main themes. The first theme illustrates the development of the application of computer technology in foreign language instruction. Four major applications representing various stages in the development are discussed in terms of their place in the underlying language leaming theories and their impact on leaming informed by the results of related studies. The second theme of this paper introduces a pedagogical model— WebQuest-as an example of how computer technology, web-resources specifically, can be integrated into foreign language instruction. Assumptions are made to demonstrate why WebQuest, as applied to foreign language teaching, could be an effective pedagogical model.
