Analyses of Technical University Students' Learning Strategies, Self-efficacy, and Language Proficiency

並列摘要

This paper reports the correlations among college students "language learning strategy (LLS) uses, self-efficacy (SE) levels, and English receptive proficiency (ERP) levels. To investigate this issue, the researcher adopted the SILL questionnaire to assess students" LLS uses, and other instruments different from those employed in previous researches, including the SE questionnaire from Wang (2011) and the standard TOEIC Bridge (TB) Test, on different subjects for this research. After regression analysis was done on the data collected, the students "ERP levels were found significantly and positively correlated to all 6 categories of LLS uses. Meanwhile, students" SE levels were also found significantly and positively correlated to ERP levels, which are consistent with the findings of some researchers. Furthermore, the students "overall LLS uses were found significantly and positively correlated to their SE levels, similar to the findings of some previous researches. These findings show that students" ERP could be enhanced through boosting their SE levels and through proper training of LLS uses.
