地球含量豐富材料作為電分解析氫陰極觸媒之應用

Earth-abundant Materials as Effective Electrocatalysts for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

摘要


利用自然界乾淨的水資源轉換成高能量密度的氫氣燃料,已逐漸直接影響到人類生活上的需求,因此開發電解水之催化反應電極材料,提高產生氫氣之效率,是許多乾淨能源技術的發展重點之一。目前產氫催化效率最佳之材料皆為地球上之貴重金屬,例如具有優良活性的鉑金屬。但無論如何這些催化材料都不適合應用在大面積的產氫系統上。因此,開發一個非貴重金屬且為地球上含量豐富之元素作為材料,並具有高效能的產氫催化效果,是現在能源開發上相當重要的一項研究課題。本文將介紹目前已經被報導的地球含量豐富的電催化析氫觸媒,說明如何經由特殊的材料設計與合成,來達到高效能的電解水產氫。

Hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) from water electrolysis by using cost-effective electrocatalysts holds promise for clean energy technologies. Replacing precious Pt catalysts with inexpensive, earth-abundant electrocatalysts could significantly facilitate clean and efficient hydrogen generation. This review summarizes recent developments of earth-abundant materials to obtain high HER electrocatalytic activity and good stability. Moreover, we also describe our current study in the application of earth-abundant P/Co-FeS_2 heterostructure as a electrocatalyst for HER. The P/Co-FeS_2 catalyst directly grown on titanium foil exhibited superior electrochemical performance of the HER with a low overpotential of -90 mV at 100 mA/cm^2, a small Tafel slope of 41 mV/decade and an outstanding HER durability test over 7 days. Our work reveals that the P/Co-FeS_2 heterostructure could be used as a competitive candidate for replacing precious metal catalysts (such as Pt) for practical energy applications.
