摘要


母乳寡醣是人體內相當重要的生物分子,除了作為益菌質之外,還牽涉了抗發炎及抗菌的功能、腸道內表皮細胞的生理反應、免疫功能調節以及供給腦部發育的營養物質。因此母乳寡醣也被視為一類有用的藥物標的,提供嬰兒有效的保護,免於遭受各類病毒或細菌的感染。為了能夠進一步研究其在人體內的生理機制,科學家們不斷嘗試開發出有效且快速的合成方法,以取得這些重要卻含量稀少的複雜多醣體以進行生物試驗。本專題報導會介紹母乳寡醣的功能及作用,並回顧現今常見的合成方法。

Human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) are important biomacromolecules in human body, which involve prebiotic activity, antiadhesive and antimicrobial effects, mediating intestinal epithelial cell responses, modulating of immune responses, and provide essential nutrients for brain development. HMOs are therefore expected to be very useful for the development of drugs, which are effective for protection of infants from harmful infections. To gain more insight into mechanism in human bodies, the development of an effective method to synthesize a series of minor but useful fucosylated oligosaccharides for further biological studies is in urgent need. In this special report, the function and applications of human milk oligosaccharides were discussed as well as the synthetic methods of these valuable biomolecules.
