關西錦泰茶廠保存價值之研究

摘要

茶葉在台灣社會生活中扮演著重要的角色，然而在產業企業化的趨勢下，傳統製茶產業開始逐漸式微，因此產業的保存也變得更為重要。一個地區的產業，代表的是地方的文化、經濟、生活背景，顯現在地的特色，產業遺產的保存便成為保存一個地區重要發展脈絡的一環。新竹縣關西鎮過去為台灣製茶產業發展的重鎮，然而隨著時代變遷，產業結構的改變，製茶產業逐漸沒落，現今關西地區僅剩2間製茶廠，其中以「錦泰茶廠」保存之產業文化資產較為豐富與多樣性之外，也較完整地保存了早期製茶時的機具設備、文物資產及相關文獻史料。因此本研究針對錦泰茶廠作為探討製茶產業之保存價值的對象。
經過本研究實際調查發現，錦泰茶廠仍保存了早期製茶時的機具設備、文物資產及相關文獻史料。因此，本研究針對其歷史背景發展進行調查與訪談，並且透過調查，分析其建築空間之轉變，以及清查其產業文物資產。最後以建築空間、文物資產及相關文獻史料探討錦泰茶廠之保存價值，期望能活化地方產業並延續產業之生活記憶。

In Taiwanese society, tea is always an important part of life. However, with the growing trend of enterprise management, the traditional tea industry has been on the wane. Preservation of this industry is thus an important task. Every local industry represents some characteristics of the culture, economy, and life background of local people. Preservation of an industrial heritage is an essential part of preservation of the important developmental context of a place. Kuanhsi Township in Hsinchu County used to be a backbone of the tea industry in Taiwan. After the changes of industrial structures in Taiwan caused a decline of the tea industry, only two tea companies remain in Kuanhsi area in nowadays. Among them, King-Tai Tea Factory has preserved relatively more diverse assets of the tea industry, including early tea preparation equipment, cultural heritage, and historical documents. This study thus used King-Tai Tea Factory as a subject for investigating the values of preserving the tea industry.
Through field investigation, this study found that King-Tai Tea Factory has preserved an abundant amount of early tea preparation equipment, cultural heritage, and historical documents. Thus, this study probed into the historical background of this factory, analyzed changes in its architectural space, and surveyed the cultural assets it has preserved. Finally, from the perspectives of architectural space, cultural heritage, and historical literature, this study discussed the values of preserving this tea factory in hope of making some contribution to reviving this local industry and retaining people’s memory of this industry.
