In early times, there was no communication across Taiwan strait for higher education because of political conflict. In 1987, Mainland China allow high schools to recruit Taiwanese students. It's the first step for the higher educational communication. From 2011, Taiwan started to admit bachelor's degree from part of universities in Mainland China and allowed recruiting students from Mainland China. It's an important milestone for the higher educational communication and cooperation across Taiwan strait. Both Taiwan and Mainland China have advantage and disadvantage in higher education and strengthen the educational communication and cooperation can make a better environment of education, which will create an opportunity of win‐win situation for both side. However, there is still some issues and obstacles needed to be overcome by both educational authorities across Taiwan strait in higher educational communication and cooperation.
