Case Report: Intestinal Cryptosporidiosis in Goat Kids

病例報告：初生山羊腸隱孢子蟲症

摘要

30頭3天到一個月大的初生山羊群發生腸隱孢子蟲症，主要症狀有水樣下痢、精神沉鬱、衰弱、厭食、不能起立。糞便塗抹片以微波抗酸法染色，可見很多紅染、4μm大小的隱孢子蟲。光學顯微鏡下，可見大量隱孢子蟲附著於小腸粘膜表面，大腸部分則有少數。電子顯微鏡觀察，可見隱孢子蟲生活史中不同時期的裂殖體及卵。該牧場大約有30頭小山羊外觀相同的臨床症狀，雖經治療仍有15頭小羊病死。

A case of intestinal cryptosporidiosis was diagnosed in 3 to 30 days old goat kids in northern Taiwan. The main signs were watery diarrhea, depression, weakness, inability to stand, and anorexia. Acid-fast staining on fecal samples revealed numerous 4 μm pink or red organisms compatible with ”Cryptosporidium” spp.. Light microscopy detected many cryptosporidial organisms primmarily attaching to the surface of intestinal epithelium. Electron microscopy demonstrated trophozoite, schizonts, and oocysts of cryptosporidia. Fifteen of 30 affected goat kids died despite intensive treatment.
