揭開大氣活潑分子克里奇中間體的神秘面紗

Unlocking the Secrets of Criegee Intermediate: A Mighty Mysterious Molecule in Atmosphere

摘要


臭氧化反應為形成大氣有機氣溶膠前驅物的重要反應之一。德國科學家Rudolf Criegee在20世紀中期,對該反應的反應機制所提出的假設中認為,此反應過程中會形成一具有高度活性的反應中間體,俗稱克里奇中間體(Criegee intermediate)。從此許多科學家便想要證明它的存在以及它對大氣化學中所扮演的角色。雖然理論計算與間接觀測數據皆支持它的存在,但是卻一直沒有人能直接偵測到它。一直到幾年前,經由歐美日台科學家的接力合作,我們才真正能在實驗室直接偵測到克里奇中間體,並能從事相關的光譜與動力學研究。這些研究成果將幫助科學家們逐漸解開大氣化學中懸而未解的謎題,此篇短文首先簡介克里奇中間體的來龍去脈,然後接下來著重在介紹台灣的科學家們,如何在這個議題上有突破性且重要的貢獻。

Ozonolysis is one of the important reactions which can create the precursors of atmospheric aerosols. In the middle of the 20th century, the German scientist Rudolf Criegee proposed that the reaction mechanism of the ozonolysis involves the formation of a reaction intermediate, the so-called Criegee intermediate, which is highly reactive. Since then many researches have dedicated to finding the evidence of its existence and examined its role in atmospheric chemistry, but no one has ever detected it directly. Just a few years ago, the researchers around the world were able to detect Criegee intermediates in the laboratory, and then the following measurements of spectroscopy and reaction dynamics became feasible. The results of these studies can help us to unveil the remaining puzzles of atmospheric chemistry. This tutorial article will give a brief introduction about the history of Criegee intermediate and its potential roles in atmospheric science, and further report the recent progresses and significant contributions of Taiwanese scientists in this field.
