義民廟視覺識別設計創作報告

摘要

宗教行為可以說是人類生活中不可或缺的一種精神信仰，諸如佛教、道教、基督教、天主教等。而台灣本土的傳統宗教信仰主要則是以佛教及道教為主，進而從地區、語言、種族等再細分出許多的支源，如本創作的主題「義民廟」，則是客家民族傳統的中心信仰。而當今社會已可以說是注重文化設計、包裝的世代，許多宗教團體都已開始利用視覺設計傳達跟推廣本身的思想，或許因觀念為較傳統及保守，客家民族遲遲沒有採用這種方式。本研究便是根據這原因切入，探討在當今社會文化日新月異，越來越注重視覺形象營造的時代，傳統的義民廟如何利用視覺識別設計讓年輕一代的客家人從新認識它、接受它。
　　本創作將分析目前台灣傳統宗教中視覺規劃成功的三個案例：慈濟、行天宮、大甲鎮瀾宮，做一系列視覺識別設計的探討，以及分析目前傳統宗教視覺形象規劃對一般民眾有何影響，並藉由這三個案例之比較來找出適合義民廟的視覺識別設計之概念與方向。
　　全台義民廟目前皆無視覺識別設計，亦無標誌或代表符號，僅直接以文字來表示。應付予其代表的符號標誌，用統一的視覺識別凝聚群眾向心力，讓更多的人能夠更容易認識及瞭解客家傳統宗教信仰之精神所在。最後希望藉由本創作來達到上述之結果，讓義民廟文化能更為大眾所認識、接受。

Religions such as Buddhism, Daoism, Catholicism, and Christianity are necessary beliefs in people’s life. Buddhism and Daoism are the main religions in Taiwan, and they also divide into branches from area to area, language to language, and race to race. For instance, the topic of this thesis, “Yi Min Miao” (means Heroes Temple) is the central belief of Hakka tradition. From now on, modern society had moved forward into a generation of packaging and designing, thus many religious groups tend to use visual designing to promote their ideas and values. Somehow, the Hakka people had never adopted this method maybe because of their conservative tradition. The main discuss of this study is to explore the appropriate methods on visual designing for Yi-min Miao to promote its ideas to the young Hakka generation, then make the young generation understand and accept the value and creed.
This thesis will analycize three successful cases of visual designing on Taiwanese religions, Tzu Chi Foundation, Hsing Tian Kong, and Da Jia Jenn Lann Temple, in order to make a serial discuss on visual definition designing and figure out how visual designing affects the public. Then, by anglicizing and comparing the three cases, we could find a suitable direction of visual designing for the Yi Min Miao.
All of the Yi Min Miao in Taiwan now are totally lack of neither visual identification nor representative symbol. The only way to promote is simply in texts. To create representative sign and symbol is important and necessary, because the successful visual definition may not only unite Hakka people, but also make the Hakka traditional religion easier to understand for the public. Therefore, I expect that this thesis would achieve the goals above, and then make the culture of Yi Min Miao more familiar and popular to people.
