新一代馬來西亞華人的自我認同

摘要


本研究意在探討新一代馬來西亞華人自我認同的內涵與其在馬來西亞多元環境下的困境與因應策略。藉由對該主題的探索,進而了解個體心理上的自我認同如何與外在世界交織與反應。本研究的四位敘說者皆為出生於1980年至1990年的新一代馬來西亞華人,他們具有新一代的獨特性與其年代所經歷的社會脈絡。 本研究以敘說分析方式進行,通過半結構式訪談蒐集資料,再以「整體-內容」的方式詮釋四位受訪者的敘說,透過跨個案分析找出四位敘說者的共同性與特殊性,最後綜合研究結果與文獻作對比討論,以了解四位敘說者自我認同形成的內涵與其所屬族群與國家如何影響自我認同之心理定位。 透過對四位受訪者的敘說與對個別故事的詮釋分析,歸納出五個自我認同形塑內涵,分別為:(一)成長背景;(二)語言與文化的認同;(三)族群間的接納;(四)對國家的認同與其心理因應;(五)對未來的願景。 通過五個主要內涵更具體化影響馬來西亞華人的重要心理機制,再整理出四個具討論性的核心主題,與文獻進行深入的探討。此四個核心主題為:(一)形塑自我認同的內涵;(二)族群認同對自我認同定位之影響;(三)國家認同對自我認同定位之影響;(四)科技虛擬時代對心理認同變化的影響。 最後,本研究將根據研究結果提出建議,以供未來研究作為參考。同時,研究者亦也向馬來西亞華人與馬來西亞政府作出建議與呼籲,以期望馬來西亞各個種族有個更好的將來。 關鍵詞:新一代馬來西亞華人、自我認同、族群認同、敘說研究

The purpose of this research is to explore the self-identification’s formation and transformation of Malaysian Chinese in new generation. The research gave a better understanding on how individual psychological self-identification interact with their social context, affect their decision and reflect identity by action. Four narrators, who are Malaysian Chinese born between 1980s and 1990s, participated in this research have their own unique life experience by going through the social change and the influence of their generation. This research adopts the narrative-based analytic method which developed by Lieblich, Tuval-Mashiach and Zilber. Research data are being collected from four narrators through semi-structured interview. “Holistic-Content Approach” has been used as the major model in analyzing individual narration. By going through inter-case analysis and comprehensive-synthesis discussion, this research interprets the sources of formation and the process of self-identification formation of four narrators. Through the life sharing and narrations of four narrators, the analysis of the individual narrations resulting five major sources of formation, which are (1) The family background and growing environment; (2) The identification of language and culture; (3) The acceptance and experience among multi-ethnic group; (4) The identification of nation policy system and their coping mechanism; (5) The future perspective. Through the interpretation of the generality and conclusions of five sources of formation, four core themes are being integrated for further discussion and exploration. The four core themes are: (1) Sources of formation in establishing self-identification; (2) The impact of ethnic identity on the formation of self-identification; (3) The impact of nation identification on self-identification positioning and (4) The impact of technology in the process of forming self-identification. At last, based on the result and discussion of the research, researcher proposes constructive ideas for future reference in academic perspective and appeals to Malaysia Government and Malaysia Chinese regarding on ethnic and nation unity issues.
