Brachial plexus palsy after simple anterior shoulder dislocation in an elderly patient: A case report

摘要

Anterior shoulder dislocation is the most common form of joint dislocations and occurs less frequently in aged patients. The association injury with rotator cuff tear is common while with brachial plexus injury is uncommon. Here we report a unique case of anterior shoulder dislocation with brachial plexus injury involving the posterior and medial cords in an aged patient. After closed reduction, the magnetic resonance imagings showed that the soft tissue around the infra-clavicular brachial plexus area was edematous change and the rotator cuff was intact. The patient fully recovered in 6th months after conservative treatment.
