Coccygodynia is a common, painful condition that is easily diagnosed. Although Traditional Chinese Medicine's (TCM) Classical Literature describes treatment for coccgodynia, location of coccyx is hard for doctors to approach. The manipulation of the coccyx via the rectum is sometimes reject by the patients. Here we describe the case of a 30 year-old female who presented serious coccydynia and lower abdominal pain after trauma. The pain was not relieved after a 9-month treatment of traditional Chinese medicine. We combined treatment of medicine and acupuncture, and get a curative effect. TCM therapy can give a progressive treatment and should be considered a viable and acceptable treatment option for patients who suffer from coccdynia.
