Three cases of promethazine hydrochloride (Pyrethia-Sionogi) intoxication in children who were admitted to the Provincial Keelung Hospital, Taiwan, are presented, Two of them were brothers and another a girl living together with the former. The doses of Pyrethia misswallowed by them were 200mg (boy, 18kg), 150mg (girl, 16.5kg), and 50mg (boy, 13kg). Their chief complaints were crying, excitement, restlessness, sleepiness, delirium, illusion, urinary incontinence etc. The clinical symptoms and signs of these three children after admission were as follows: 1. Cardiovascular and hematological findings: a) E. C. G. and pulse rate: Sinus tachycardia T wave sharply inverted in V1, V2, V3. b) Blood Pressure: Slightly eleva, ted. c) Blood Picture: Moderate eosinophilia. d) Flash of face. 2. Neurological and mental findings: a) Pupils: Miotic and sluggish light reflex. b) Mental state: Often with excitement, restlessness, delirium and illusion. Sometimes with retrograde amnesia and incontinentia urinae. During their 3.day hospital stay they recovered uneventfully.
