In this article, the authors established a new sinistral species of camaenid land snail, Satsuma mimiwui sp. nov.. This newly-described species is distributed throughout southern Taiwan. It is of medium size, dark festucine to red brown in shell color, with semi-arboreal, and herbivorous ecological habits. The newly-described species can be distinguished from four other sinistral congenera and similar species, S. pekanensis, S. rubrolaeva, S. wenshini and S. contraria, which are distributed throughout southern and eastern Taiwan, by anatomical traits, morphological characters, and biogeographical distribution. A unique characteristic of this newly-described species is the autotomous behavior with subsequent self-regeneration at the posterior part of their gastropod muscle.
