月桃葉鞘應用於手工紙之研發

Development of Handmade Paper Made from Alpinia zerumbet Sheath

摘要


本研究旨在探討台灣原生種薑科植物-月桃(Alpinia zerumbet)之葉鞘,應用於製作具有耐久性佳之手工紙之適性。藉由月桃葉鞘之化學組成分析、纖維形態觀察、製漿試驗、抄造手工紙並進行紙張性質測定,以評估月桃葉鞘作為手工紙纖維原料之適用性。試驗結果可知,使用月桃葉鞘纖維,混合其他漿料抄製之月桃宣紙,吸水度相近於市售C-4宣紙及紅星牌玉版宣。經QUV加速光照劣化試驗結果顯示,月桃宣紙呈現穩定之耐光性。綜合試驗結果,有助於未來選擇製漿和漂白條件,以及漿料混合配比之調整,期能利用月桃葉鞘之纖維原料,研製具有本土特色、耐久性佳之工藝用手工紙。

In this study, the purpose is to investigate the suitability of the leaf sheath of Alpinia zerumbet, the native plant of Zingiberaceae in Taiwan, for handmade paper. The applicability of the leaf sheath of Alpinia zerumbet as a raw material for handmade paper fiber was evaluated by chemical composition analysis, pulping test, fiber type observation, paper properties measurement, and accelerated aging test. This study carried out the pulping and papermaking test of Alpinia zerumbet, and explored the pulping method to produce handmade paper with high yield and low lignin content. Our results show that lab-made xuan paper, mixing Alpinia zerumbet pulp and other pulp, exhibited the competitive water absorbent drgree compare to commercial xuan papers, including C-4 xuan paper and jade-white xuan paper. Through the 72 hr accelerated light degradation test, it indicates that Alpinia zerumbet xuan paper performed good light fastness. Based on the above results, it will help readers to select the pulping and bleaching conditions along with the adjustment of the pulp mixing ratio. It is expected to utilize leaf sheath of Alpinia zerumbet to prepare handmade paper with outstanding durability and local features.
