Clarification of the Identity of Moth Type Specimens in the National Taiwan Museum (Insecta: Lepidoptera)

Abstracts

This study reconfirms a total of 23 moth type specimens from 7 species in 5 families, which are stored at the National Taiwan Museum and confirmed to the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature for formal publication, including 3 Drepanidae species, Demopsestis formosana Yoshimoto, 1983 (1 male and 1 female paratype specimen each), Epipsestis bilineata pallida Yoshimoto, 1984 (1 female paratype specimen) and Wernya rufifasciata Yoshimoto, 1987 (1 male paratype specimen); 1 Geometridae species, Arichanna jaguararia wangi Yazaki, 1999 (male holotype and seven paratypes, 4 males, 3 females); 1 Lasiocampidae species, Pyrosis ni (Wang & Fan, 1995) (2 paratypes, 1 male and 1 female); 1 Saturniidae species, Samia wangi Naumann & Peigler, 2000 (8 paratypes, 5 males, 3 females) and 1 Zygaenidae species, Chalcosia thaivana owadai Wang, 1999 (male holotype). It is recommended that the National Taiwan Museum classifies the above specimens as first-level biological collections for better management and preservation.

本研究重新確認存放於國立臺灣博物館，並符合國際動物命名規約之正式發表昆蟲蛾類模式標本共5科7種23隻，包含鉤蛾科三物種，含Demopsestis formosana Yoshimoto, 1983臺圓波紋蛾（雄蟲與雌蟲副模式標本各一隻）、Epipsestis bilineata pallida Yoshimoto,1984線平波紋蛾（雌蟲副模式標本1隻）、Wernya rufifasciata Yoshimoto, 1987淡紅線波紋蛾（雄蟲副模式標本1隻）、尺蛾科Arichanna jaguararia wangi Yazaki, 1999裡黃星尺蛾雄蟲正模式標本和副模式標本7隻（4雄蟲、3雌蟲）、枯葉蛾科Pyrosis ni（Wang & Fan, 1995）（Bhima）彌新冥枯葉蛾副模式標本2隻（1雄蟲、1雌蟲）、天蠶蛾科Samia wangi Naumann & Peigler, 2000王氏眉紋天蠶蛾8隻副模式標本（5雄蟲，3雌蟲）與斑蛾科 Chalcosia thaivana owadai Wang, 1999臺灣螢斑蛾蘭嶼亞種雄性正模式標本。建議國立臺灣博物館將上述標本列為生物類一級典藏品，以利管理與保存。
