茶花新品種‘桃園1號－緋紅之夏’之育成
Breeding and selection of Camellia 'Taoyuan No.1-Summer Red'
摘要
茶花‘桃園1號－緋紅之夏’為桃園區農業改良場2021年育成之新品種。於2013-2014年以觀賞價值高的日本山茶‘伊美黛’為母本，夏季開花的杜鵑紅山茶為父本進行雜交。2018年自180個實生苗的開花株選拔優良單株4株。進行兩次品系比較試驗，調查生長及開花特性，選拔TYCA1408-3為優良品系，命名為‘桃園1號－緋紅之夏’。‘桃園1號－緋紅之夏’植株為直立型、分枝性中等，葉片為橢圓形，葉色綠色、無葉斑，葉緣形狀屬粗鋸齒狀。花朵為蓮花型半重瓣，花徑9-10公分屬中輪，主要花色為紅色（RHS 51A），近花朵中心具有淡紅色橫紋斑（RHS 51C、RHS 51D）。花瓣為倒卵型，瓣緣形狀為微凹狀。主要花期於夏秋季（7-11月），春季（2-3月）有少量花朵開放。‘桃園1號－緋紅之夏’植株生長勢強健，適合作為盆花或景觀使用。

Camellia 'Taoyuan No.1-Summer Red' was a new cultivar released by Taoyuan district agricultural and extension station. High ornamental valued Camellia japonica L. 'Emeda' and summer bloomed Camellia azalea C.F. Wei. were crossed in 2013-2014. Four singles were selected from 180 hybrid seedling in 2018. Line comparison tests were conducted for two consecutive years and line TYCA1438-3 was selected and thereafter formally named 'Taoyuan No.1-Summer Red'. The plant growth habit of 'Taoyuan No.1-Summer Red' is upright. The branch is medium. The leaf shape is oval. The leaf color is green without variegation and the margin of leaf is serrate. The flower type is semi-double, lotus form. The flower size is medium (9-10 cm). The main color is red(RHS 51A) with light red (RHS 51C、RHS 51D ) striated on the inner petal . The shape of petal is obovate The margin of petal is retuse. The time of flowering is mainly in summer to fall (Jul. to Nov.) and the small amount of flower bloomed in spring (Feb. to Mar.). The growth vigor of 'Taoyuan No.1-Summer Red' is good, can be used as pot flower or landscape plant.
