Melanocyte Distribution in Normal Epidermis of Chinese People in the Kaohsiung Area
高雄地區正常人表皮黑色素細胞之分佈
摘要
為了研究表皮基底層黑色素細胞在身體不同部位的分佈情形，著者由101個皮膚科門診病患中（男63人，女38人）採取151個正常皮膚標本，取自身體10個不同的部位，以2N溴化鈉（NaBr）將表皮與真皮分離後，再與0.1% Dopa反應，並計算Dopa陽性之黑色素細胞之密度每平方厘米由372至2518不等，平均值為每平方厘米935個。不同部位的個別平均值以腹部之534個細胞為最低，而外陰部之2105個細胞為最高，不同個體的同一部位，Dopa陽性之黑色素細胞數目有很大的差異，在同一個體的不同部位之細胞數亦有很大的差異。密度最高的部位為日光曝露的部位如頭和頸部以及外陰部，而密度最低的部位為軀幹。曝露部位及外陰部的黑色素細胞較大，Dopa的反應強烈且樹枝狀突起相當發達，非曝露部位的細胞則較小，且Dopa反應較弱及樹枝狀突起不發達。本研究發現高雄地區正常人之表皮黑色素細胞數與外國之報告相近，因而推論種族間膚色之差異，主要是決定於黑色素細胞產生之melanosome之大小及量，以及melanosome在表皮分佈之方式及被分解之速度。

Melanocytes were identified by the dopa reaction and counted in separated human epidermal sheets. One hundred and fifty-one specimens of normal skin from 101 patients in the Kaohsiung area were obtained from ten major regions of the body. An average mean of 935 cells per square millimeter was counted but individual counts ranged from 372 to 2518. These data agreed well with those of the other authors. The mean values for various regions ranged from 534 on the abdomen to 2105 on the genital area. There are great differences between the number of melanocytes in different areas of the same individual. The higher densities are found on the exposed area such as the head and neck and on the genital area. The lower density is found on the unexposed area such as the trunk. The melanocytes on the exposed area and the genital area are big, highly reactive and fully dendritic while those on the unexposed area are small, less reactive and with poorly developed dendrites. It is apparent that the variation in skin color between racial groups is not due to the number of melanocytes but to the amount and size of melanosomes produced by the melanocytes, and the pattern of distribution and rate of degradation of melanosonies within the keratinocytes. This paper is the first report concerning the epidermal melanocyte distribution in Chinese people so far.
