Mood disorders in children and adolescents are considered a chronic health issue that substantially affects mental health and overall development. Inadequate coping strategies and a lack of prompt intervention can hinder the developmental progress of children and adolescents with mood disorders. This article describes the factors that influence mood disorders in children and adolescents and examines the long-term effects of traumatic and stressful events on children and adolescents. Furthermore, the schools and communities provide recommendations for promoting mental health among children and adolescents by using the 3A principles advocated by the Institute of mental health in Singapore as an example. This approach may serve as a means to increase self-awareness and collaboration among children and adolescents. The wide adoption of this model may improve mental health among children and adolescents in regional communities.
