摘要


稻殼是稻穀碾米後留下的副產品,目前尚無重要用途。稻殼中含有多量灰份,幾乎全部為二氧化矽。稻殼中的有機物經高溫分解可變為碳,由碳與矽化合可得碳化矽。本試驗首先將稻殼在隔絕空氣的環境下煆燒至900°C,使稻殼碳化,次在氬氣保護下加熱至1900°C以下,結果在1600°C以上者產生β-SiC晶體,由X光繞射檢查得以證實。

Rice hull is a waste material from rice processing. It contains about 16% ash which is mostly silica. When rice hull is subjected to high temperatures, its organic components will be decomposed into carbon, and the carbon may be combined with silica to form silicon carbide. In this study the rice bull was first calcined at 900°C for one hour in the absence of air, then the black powders obtained were heated to various temperatures up to 1900°C in argon. It was found that the powders were transformed to β-SiC at temperatures above 1600°C as confirmed by X-ray diffraction method.
