The Attracting Effect of Terpenoids to Enemies of Herbivore Insects

Abstracts

To deal with insect attack behaviors, plants have developed two types of defense strategies, direct and indirect defense. Terpenoids play a critical role in plant defense by acting as signals to attract herbivores' enemies, which helps enemies to find their hosts or pray. However, some factors may affect terpenoidattraction, two of these are experiences of enemies and background odour, which will be discussed in this article.
