In this experiment, seven imported commercial logs were collected and investigated for their termite-resistant properties. The wood species included yellow cedar, red cedar, western hemlock, douglas fir, white oak, maple and Fokien cypress. Results of the laboratory accelerated tests in both block and powder styles revealed that wood samples of yellow cedar, red cedar and Fokien cypress showed high termite resistance, while hemlock, douglas fir and maple showed less termite resistance. Additionally, physical and chemical properties of the seven woods were analyzed, and correlations between termite-resistance and wood characteristics were also examined.
