The laryngeal mask airway (LMA) has been gaining a firm position through numerous modification and practice since it was invented by Dr Brain in 1981. The LMA is easy to use and provides an adequate airway, in both adults and children, in a wide variety of clinical situations. There are numerous reports of successful use of the LMA after failed tracheal intubation which support a potential role for the LMA in patients with difficult airways. Although there has some controversies about its use under certain circumstances. Nervertheless, it is an alternative way to relieve difficult airway. We presented a case who suffered difficult intubation during anesthesia induction and was intubated successfully after three attempts. At the end of surgery, the patient suffered from airway obstruction immediately after endotracheal tube extubation and was resolved by placement of laryngeal mask airway.
