The purposes of this study were to describe expectations about women's childbirth in their third trimester of pregnancy. The structural questionnaires were used. The convenience samples were selected at a medical center in Taipei. The factor structure of the Questionnaire was explored using a sampling of 143 women. Exploratory factor analysis yielded a 22-item instrument with five factor-based subscales: Coping with pain, Companion tangible support, Respect, Intervention, and Companion emotional support, with Cronbach's alpha around 0.64-0.83. The total scale with Cronbach's alpha is 0.75. Results indicated that women expected more Companion emotional support and tangible support, and as followed Medical intervention, Respect, less Coping with pain during their labor and birth. The finding of the research will not only help us to understand better about expectations about women' s childbirth in their third trimester of pregnancy, but also the process of this study can provide suggest for further research.
