Skin Complications of Surgical Treatment for Talipes Equinovarus Using Cincinnati Incision

並列摘要

The Cincinnati incision provided clubfeet surgery with excellent exposure scar. Skin problems were still warranted. Retrospective study in 42 children (60feet) with resistant clubfoot deformity, surgical correction with Cincinnati incision was done at an average of age 8 months old. There were 8 girls and 34 boys, and bilateral for 18 patients. Skin problems occurred in 11 feet (18.3%). Among them, 7 feet had mild patched skin edge necrosis, 3feet had moderate skin necrosis, 1 foot had extensive skin necrosis, wound dehiscence and deep infection. Skin tension after the wound closure was blamed. For avoiding skin problems, preoperative soft tissue stretching, sharp dissection and gentle tissue handling, two-layer interrupted sutures and staged foot correction after the surgery were recommended.
