ANALYSIS OF LIGHTNING DATA FOR BACK FLASHOVER PREVENTION IN 69 KV OVERHEAD TRANSMISSION LINE IN TAIWAN

摘要

Mostly the design of the lightning protection of transmission lines does not refer to the lightning record of the surrounding environment. This study uses the data of a total lightning detection system to improve the lightning protection of 69 kV overhead transmission lines in Taiwan. In this study, two sections of such transmission lines in a high-frequency lightning strike area were selected to build a simulation model. The electromagnetic transient of lightning strikes on the ground wire and the cross-arms of a tower were simulated using the T-Flash software. The insulation strengths of the lightning prevention were proposed by affording 95% cumulative probability of the lightning current. The result showed that the success rate of lightning protection improved from 51.6% to 95%. The proposed method can identify and improve existing high-risk lines as well as confirm the safety of new circuits.
