Chen Du-xiu indicated that youths are liable to extremes and difficult to attain the mean or practice the doctrine of centrality. Wu Yu exemplified this observation. He condemned Confucius for despising the female, even negated the value of family system, fidelity and filial piety. In the ”Demolition of Confucian Shop” Wu was more ardent than Chen. Liu Yi-zheng detected the Japanese origin of criticizing Confucianism, and stressed the fact that respecting emperors does not imply authoritarianism. Actually Wu pushed Zhuang Zi's chapter ”Robber Zhi” to the extreme. Despite attacking Confucius inconsistency between speech and action, Wu massied concubines to contradict his own advocacy of equality between sexes. (Thirty years ago Lin Yu-Tang abandoned ”Robber Zhi” in his second translation of Zhuang Zi, perhaps because he got sick of Anti-Confucianism.)
