This article will discuss step by step the kinship between Hu shih and the Wang family in the twentieth century. It begins with Wang Tzu-hsin, as heir to the Wang Yu-tai Teahouse, and one traditional Chinese physician, with his multidimensional activities and self-professional identity as discussed and clarified by historical materials. Hu and Wang was connected via their family relations. The business activities of Wang Cheng-hwan (Han-hang), the second son of Wang Tzu-hsin, can then be traced via newspapers and other historical materials. Lastly, it will discuss Hu shih's maneuver for the release of Wang Chen-hwan in 1951. In his two letters and one draft respectively to Cheng Hsuah-ping, and the R.O.C.
