This study investigates integrating intergenerational learning strategies into practical design courses to cultivate designers with holistic care values. It involves 31 third-year interior design students and 14 elderly participants within Taiwan's education system. The research aims to deepen understanding of user needs and enhance design integrity by utilising qualitative methods such as course observations, interviews, and reflections. Intergenerational learning has been found to facilitate students' understanding of user needs and increase their learning enthusiasm. However, particular areas for improvement have been identified. Recommendations include flexible course planning, enhanced communication, and project briefings to boost effectiveness and engagement. These suggestions aim to improve intergenerational learning outcomes and foster designers' development with holistic care perspectives.
