This paper describes the fabrication of a prototype vacuum bending magnet chamber of the Taiwan Photon Source (TPS). The A6061-T651 aluminium alloy was used as the chamber material, and a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) oil-free machining process was applied through the fabrication process. Deformation of the chamber due to evacuation was simulated and kept less than 0.1mm near beam orbit. The measured surface roughness of the aluminium plates after machining is smaller than 0.1 mm/m. A special tool was applied for machining the sealing surface of flange for the Beam Position Monitor (BPM) to achieve a roughness of less than 0.2μm. The results of machining test show good qualities of surface roughness, flatness, and deformation.
