摘要

The colon and rectum X-raying method in Japan dates back to around 1955 when H. Shirakabe, and H. Ichikawa, I presented a paper on the diagnostics of intestinal tuberculosis. However, these doctors applied the double contrast method of the stomach upon that of the colon and rectum, thus establishing today's early X-ray diagnosis of stomach cancer. Inevitably, this brought public attention to the X-ray gastro-examination method rather than the X-ray colon and rectum examination method. At the 12th International Congress of Radiology opened in Tokyo in 1969, G.R. Brown announced the direct air-contrast colon and rectum examination, which turned out considerably influential. Since around 1970 in Japan, the colon and rectum examination best suited for Japanese has been under study and currently applied, with new methods being generally put to use. Developed by K. Umeda, and S. Takane, in 1972, a remote-control X-ray colon and rectum examination apparatus proved greatly successful, Further in 1977, this apparatus was remodelled into the Shimadzu CASSETTELESS Universal Remote Control Diagnostic Table VS - 10 - GITROSCOPE, which is now widely used. Given here is an outline of the unit, plus its use.
