Multilocular cystic nephroma is an uncommon neoplasm of the kidneys. It is typically unilateral and solitary, composed of nocommunicating cysts which are lined by flattened or cuboid epithelium and with nondiffernentiated renal elements within the tumor. It presents as a quiescent abdominal mass in children, but in adults it is quite symptomatic. With the improvement of diagnostic imaging modalities and with its characteristic features on computerized tomography (CT) scan and ultrasound, correct diagnosis can be made preopatively, and total nephrectomy can usually be avoided.
