傳統電話網路世界裡,用戶無法透過單一帳號進行不同服務的申請,且部分服務受限於有線、無線網路而無法相互整合。因此,3GPP提出IMS(IP Multimedia Subsystem)架構,正是期望能在IP網路上將各式服務進行集中管理,所有使用IMS平台的系統業者(Fixed/Mobile Operators)與服務供應商(Service Providers)能在相同的平台上進行對話,使用共通的通訊協定(SIP, Session Initiation Protocol),使不同系統得以相互連接,以達到無間隙(seamless)的網路存取與異質網路整合(FMC,Fixed-Mobile Convergence)。透過IMS平台的建置,達到所有網路能在共通平台上溝通,在全面IP化的環境下,整合型的數位內容服務(例如:Triple Play、IPTV)將成為未來發展趨勢之一。
In a traditional telecom network, subscribers can't subscribe to different services via a single account, and some services are unable to integrate because of the gap of fixed and wireless network. Thus, 3GPP proposes the IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) architecture in order to manage and centralize all different IP network services. All operators including system operators (fixed/mobile operators) and service providers can communicate through IMS platform. Additionally, using the same communication protocol (SIP, Session Initiation Protocol) make it possible to connect between different network systems to achieve seamless network access and FMC (Fixed-Mobile Convergency). Through the deployment of IMS system, all networks can communicate in a common platform. In all IP environment, integrated digital content service (eg. Triple Play, IPTV) will be an important trend in the future.
