The purposes of this study were to understand the academic productivity (research-related academic activities, non-research academic publication activities such as books or articles, and professional academic services such as conference presentation or seminars) of the nursing faculty in colleges and universities and to identify related factors that might influence their academic productivity. The data were collected by mailed questionnaire. One hundred and fifty-five full time collegiate faculty participated in this study. The results showed that less than 50% of the subjects indicated active involvement in research, non-research publication, and national or international professional academic activities. The faculty's age, teaching experience, position, school, highest degree, marital status and having children were the variables found to have a significant relationship to faculty academic productivity. The significant predictors of the faculty's academic productivity were teaching experience, having children, age and faculty's working school.
