The topographic maps are numerous and approximate, so that the users need to rely on the titles, numbers for sorting and extracting their required sheets. In the past century, Taiwan topographic map's producing was influenced successively by Japan, China and the United States, which resulted that the naming and numbering system changed frequently and was difficult to use for the researchers and librarians. The author had been studying Taiwan topographic maps for many years and found that the changes of the titles and number systems were often based on the political implications. The study will deconstruct and analyze the changes of the Taiwan topographic maps' serial names, sheet names, serial numbers and sheet numbers, finally, making conclusions.
