Breeding of Dianthus 'Taitung No.2 Fragrance Summer'
摘要
石竹新品種「臺東2號香怡夏」係本場於西元2010年利用商業品種Dianthus barbatus x chinensis 'Dulce mixture'母本，臺灣特有種石竹清水山石竹(D. seisuimontanus)為父本，進行種間雜交後篩選雜交後裔，以營養系繁殖而得。本品種花朵直徑約5公分，花瓣大觀賞性佳，粉紫單色花(RHS N74B)，開花時具有父本清水山石竹之香氣，天氣晴朗時香氣表現更明顯。定植初期，檀株具有明顯之頂芽優勢，分枝較不明顯，待頂芽高度達10公分時，側芽萌生情形明顯增加。定植後55～60日，第一朵花開放，定植後約70日即可進入盛花期。本品種全年均可生長並開花良好，可為臺灣石竹草花一優良選擇。本品種於2016年12月獲得品種權。

The pollination works were conducted from the hybridization between the commercial cultivar Dianthus barbatus x chinensis 'Dulce mixture' (♀) and D. seisuimontanus (♂) in 2010. As the result of assessments, 'Taitung No.2 Fragrance Summer' was selected from all progenies. The plant height of 'Taitung No.2 Fragrance Summer' is about 20-30 cm, and the flower diameter is nearly 5 cm. It can provide delightful effect for ornamental bedding plant. The flower color of 'Taitung No.2 Fragrance Summer' is pink (RHS N74B). It spreads salient fragrance inherited from D. seisuimontanus especially when blooming in sunny days. The Dianthus 'Taitung No.2 Fragrance Summer' has slight apical dominance on early planting, when the apical bud grows to 10 cm, the lateral buds will be initiated. The first flower will open after being planted 55-60 days, and then full bloom after 70 days. The Dianthus 'Taitung No.2 Fragrance Summer' with novel horticultural characteristics can grow well and bloom year-round. It could also be the good choice for bedding in Taiwan summer. The Dianthus 'Taitung No.2 Fragrance Summer' obtained the plant variety right in December, 2016.
