Because of the demand for lightweight, advanced high-strength steel has been widely used in automotive structural parts. The international companies developed lightweight high strength steel tubes for automotive structures. However, there had been no systematic research and design criteria of tube bending technology in domestic industries for 590-980MPa steel. Therefore, this paper selected two tube bending ways that were commonly used in automotive industry, press bending and rotary draw bending, to establish CAE analysis mode. All the parameters which affect the thickness distribution and bending defects were discussed. This study expected to establish design criteria for AHSS tubular bending technology, reduced die tryout and development period, and predicted the possibility of subsequent hydroforming process.
