大耳症是一種先天性外耳畸形，它可以是外耳某一部位的增生或多部位的增生，它可能是發生在單側或雙側耳朵。而這種異常外觀會影響病人的社交活動以及產生病人的自卑感，因此必須以手術來解決外耳畸形的問題，手術的重點在於矯正畸形，維持兩耳的對稱性及適當大小。一位10歲大小男孩因兩側耳殼肥大來求診，發現母親也有相同問題。住院後接受經耳後切口，切除耳殼紡椎形軟骨而完成耳朵整形手術，外耳前面的皮膚仍然保持完整。使用這種縮耳手術方式，術後可達到美好的外觀，兩耳對稱，及疤痕不明顯的目標。

Macrotia is a form of congenital malformation of the auricle. It may affect patients' social activities as well as their self-esteem. A 10-year-old boy suffered from bilateral conchal hypertrophy. He received ear reduction under the diagnosis of macrotia. Resection of the posterior concha wall via a posterior approach and setback otoplasty were performed. The anterior skin of the concha was left intact and its redundancy was corrected by its own viscoelastic property. The result of the operation was pleasing with good aesthetic appearance, bilateral symmetry, and inconspicuous scars.
