補體系統與牙周病的相關性及其治療應用：文獻回顧
The Relationship Between Complement System and Periodontitis and Therapeutic Approaches: A Literature Review
摘要
補體系統起先被認為是先天免疫的一部分，在宿主免疫反應中扮演著保護性的角色，可增強宿主對病原體的抵抗力，然而補體系統一旦失去平衡便會引發嚴重的發炎反應。而牙周病為一因細菌堆積於牙根表面引起後續免疫發炎反應進而造成牙齒周圍組織破壞的疾病，宿主的免疫反應決定了牙周病的嚴重程度。目前已有許多文獻提出補體系統與全身性發炎相關疾病的關聯性，而其與牙周病的相關性亦被陸續提出。本篇文獻回顧將討論補體系統與發炎性相關疾病關聯性之研究文獻，並歸納探討補體系統與牙周疾病相關之基礎研究、臨床試驗與治療應用，期能使臨床醫師對補體系統在牙周疾病中可能扮演的角色有更深入的了解。

The complement system is considered as a part of innate immunity. The complement system has been a protective role as it is a well-connected surveillance system that potentiates innate immunity against pathogens, however, it may cause aberrant inflammatory responses if the balance of complement system breaks down. Periodontitis is initiated by bacteria colonization of the root, and the resultant host immune responses lead to the periodontal tissue destruction. At present, there were many articles investigating the relationship between the complement system and the inflammation-related diseases, as well as periodontal disease. This review discusses the studies investigating the correlation between complement system and the systemic inflammatory diseases, and the basic and clinical studies investigating the possible role of complement system in the pathogenesis of periodontitis and its therapeutic potentials. We hope this review could provide some useful information to dental society.
