Seven Kinds of 'appearance' and 'incubus' was a collection arranged by Shen Cong-Wen in January 1949. At first, Shen Cong-Wen prepared to publish it; however, it was not success in the end because of the Political Persecution which Shen Cong-Wen encountered and Shen Cong-Wen's psychosis in 1949. By the close reading, we can discovery that the pivotal issues of these works were the thinking about 'abstract' and 'concrete'. Therefore, this paper offers a view of exploring the possible relationship between Shen Cong-Wen's 'appearance' and 'incubus' writing and his complicated mental state. In the short, this paper discusses the meaning of 'appearance' and how the 'incubus' came into being in Shen Cong-Wen's writing in the 1940's.
