Use of Chinese Medicine for the Treatment of a Hiccup Patient with Uremia: A Case Report

摘要

一位66歲接受腹膜透析治療的尿毒症男性患者，以打嗝不止持續半年為主要治病訴求，伴隨排便不順，肌酸酐、尿素氮高居不下，經中醫辨證論治診斷為濁邪壅塞三焦，治以通腑瀉濁法，開立大承氣湯加減治療一週，打嗝不止獲得即刻性的改善。後續如何長期穩定控制症狀、持續扶正，仍需更進一步的探討。

A 66-year-old male with uremia under peritoneal dialysis complained about consistent hiccups for half a year. Constipation, high creatinine level and hyperglycemia were also noted. On the basis of traditional Chinese medicine theory, he was diagnosed with "block and repulsion" and "internal blockade of water-poison". The use of the Chinese medicine "Da Cheng Qi Tang" plus other herbs was prescribed for one week to enhance detoxification, leading to an instantly curative effect. Further study to show how to keep symptoms stable and to consistently improve is warranted.
