Currently, there is no commercially available oral dosage form for tube feeding patients who receiving enteral nutrition therapy. By pulverization of tablet or capsule dosage form, it has the potential to cause undesirable effects or incompatibilities via tube feeding administration or combined with enteral feeding formulas. Also, tube obstruction, increasing drug toxicity or reducing efficacy may occur if an improper administration method is used. In addition, it may increase medical care expenditure thereafter. Most patients using enteral tube feeding had comorbidities and polypharmacy, the medication safety for those patients is urgent and need to be emphasized.
