摘要

肌少症是一種肌肉質量與肌力隨著年齡減少，並伴隨身體功能障礙的老年病症候群。多重因子包括衰老、失用、內分泌與免疫系統的改變都與肌少症有關。肌少症會增加身體活動功能障礙、跌倒與死亡的風險。目前有數個國際共識會議提出有關肌少症的定義與診斷標準。漸進式阻力運動及營養介入是目前被視為可以預防及改善肌少症的有效方法。本文將簡介肌少症的成因、定義、盛行率、篩檢及介入方式。

Sarcopenia is a geriatric syndrome characterized by age-related loss of muscle mass and strength, and impaired physical function. The causes of sarcopenia are multifactorial, including senescence, disuse, and altered metabolic and immune systems. The consequences of sarcopenia include poor functional status, falls and mortality. Currently there are several definitions and diagnostic criteria for sarcopenia from different international consensus conferences. Clinically there are several screen strategies for sarcopenia. Progressive resistance training and nutritional intervention are beneficial to improve skeletal muscle strength and physical activity in the elderly. This review introduces the pathophysiology, definition, prevalence, screen tools and appropriate intervention of sarcopenia.
