摘要


臺灣茶樹主要之育種方法為雜交育種與選育天然雜交之後裔兩種。依據現行的育種程序,每個選育週期至少需21年。目前已完成命名之品種有20個。由於臺灣茶樹育種歷史相當久遠,從累積的資料中,以求得相當多植株性狀與製茶種類、製茶品質、產量與其他生產相關特性之相關,足以作為早期選拔之指標。此外,茶樹具有自交不親合性,目前也被利用來減輕雜交育種之壓力。

Hybridization and chance seedling selection are two main breeding methods of Taiwan tea breeding program. According to official tea breeding process, each breeding program would take at least 21years for breding a new tea variety. Right now, Taiwan Tea Research and Extension Station had released 20 new tea cultivars. Taiwan have had long tea breeding history, so there were enough data to establish reliable correlation between plant characteristics and tea quality, yield, fermentation ability and some cultural behaviors. Such correlation always used as the early selection index during tea breeding. Moreover, the character of tea self-incompatibility was also used in Taiwan tea breeding program now.
