Innovative Design for Multi-function Breastfeeding Covers

There are growing numbers of mothers willing to breastfeed in recent years; however, limited breastfeeding rooms in public have forced some mothers to breastfeed in the restaurants, corners, or somewhere relatively private. Such barriers to privacy have largely impacted the willingness of breastfeeding. Through qualitative and quantitative studies, the researchers designed and improved multi-function breastfeeding covers for more privacy protection and straightforward applications. The researchers expanded the functions of breastfeeding cover to a raincoat, cloak, blanket, diaper pad, stroller cover, apron, etc., via the detachable collar, by which various accessories can be attached. This extension maximizes the utility and continued use when the child grows up, largely improving the versatility and greenness. With a utility model patent obtained, we won a gold medal in the international invention exhibition. Here we developed and demonstrated that "multi-function breastfeeding cover" is significantly superior than traditional ones in the features including choice of materials, touch of the fabric, the hidden characteristics, easy storage, and easy to wear and carry. Multiple functions of our breastfeeding cover such as a protection from sun and rain, a wrap, blanket, pillow, cloak, raincoat, as well as pockets for storage, are also significantly better than traditional ones.
