『三四郎』『それから』の関連性－「貸借関係」の視座より

夏目漱石の『三四郎』『それから』『門』はストーリーの展開やそれぞれの主人公が抱えている悩みなどから、漱石の前期三部作と見なされているのは改めて言うまでもない。それ以外に、『三四郎』と『それから』には各人物間の貸借、また男から女への援助など金銭が絡んでいることはモチーフとまではいかなくても、物語の展開に大きな役割を果たしていることを見落としてはならない。『三四郎』では、脇役の与次郎に借金を求められた美禰子が三四郎を通すという形の貸借が織り込まれている。『それから』においては代助が三千代夫婦の為に金を調達したこと、また父親から生活の援助やそこからの結婚を迫られる代助親子間の貸借など様々な「貸借関係」を見出すことができる。こうして主人公のみならず、色々な登場人物が貸借に絡んでおり、「貸借関係」が様々な形で作品に織り込まれているのは興味深い。本稿では、『三四郎』及び『それから』にあるそれぞれの形の貸借やそれに絡んでいる人物の関係などを考察した上、作品におけるそれぞれの「貸借関係」の意味、一種の策略としてストーリーの発展に如何なる働きとして果たされるのか、またそこから両作品のつながりが考えられるかなどの問題を明らかにすることを試みる。

Accordingly, it is interesting to find out that lending relationships in different forms are woven into works for the association of lending from not only the leading characters but also various characters.
