Pyometra in Cervical Cancer May Interfere With the Tumor Response to Radiotherapy: A Case Report

摘要

The incidence of pyometra has been reported to range from 1.5% to 4.0% in women with malignant uterine lesions. Cervical inflammation or cervical stenosis caused by radiotherapy itself easily leads to deterioration or recurrence of pyometra. Previous reports have revealed that treatments could fail if pyometra is not under control prior to initiation of anti-neoplasm therapy. Herein, we report a patient with cervical cancer, initially presenting with pyometra, who experienced a poor tumor response after radiotherapy. It is recommended that pyometra be controlled prior to starting radiotherapy in gynecological cancer patients.
