先知的療傷之旅:從環境心理學視角解讀以西結異象的龐大地景

A Prophet's Healing Journey: Reading Ezekiel's Visions of a Vast Landscape from the Perspective of Environmental Psychology

摘要


聖經以西結書於40-48章對於建築景觀與自然景致有大篇幅的描述,然而鮮有故事情節,對於人物的心理活動也少有描繪。曾有學者認為此龐大的幻想式作品,呈現出先知以西結患有精神疾病。本文從環境心理的角度,探討希伯來聖經中以西結的異象體驗。首先,探問在異象之中被授予將大量資訊傳遞給以色列人的使命如何可能?除了以西結的天賦異稟,本文以環境心理學者卡普蘭(Stephen Kaplan)所提出「注意力恢復理論」(attention restoration theory)為分析工具,發現異象符合了恢復性環境的要件。本文進而以希伯來文「驚嘆」和「測量」作為鑰詞進行文本研究,凸顯先知異象體驗的心理活動。這些重複往返於「測量」與「驚嘆」的心理活動顯示著:所賦予的異象不但符合先知原有的信仰價值,更充滿了引人入勝的嶄新盼望,增進他的韌性和心理健康。情感的驚嘆和測量資訊組合成記憶包,可望幫助以西結完成記憶此龐大異象並傳達信息的任務。先知與天使協作,以身體參與新環境的測量,體現醫治的大地與宇宙秩序於自身,預嚐上帝「平安的約」。此異象之旅為為先知突破性的任務,為亡國被擄的現實帶來全新的理解,也在任務執行中經歷個人心理層面的療癒。

Book of Ezekiel (chapters 40-48) depicts a landscape with a great amount of architectural/environmental information, whereas the psychological activities of the characters are rarely mentioned. Scholars once suggest that the visions are the products of mental disorders of prophet Ezekiel. This essay argues that to better understand the prophet's mind we should view the visions based on environmental psychology. First, how would the mission be possible given so much information to remember? To answer this, Stephen Kaplan's 'attention restoration theory' is used as an analytical tool to reveal the restorative quality of the landscape. This essay then chooses the Hebrew term 'behold' and 'measure' as the indicators of the prophet's psychological status. The bouncing pattern between the two would enhance the resiliency of Ezekiel's mind (brain) and his wellbeing based on modern time neurology. Awe-and-measurement create memory kits to make the visions rememberable-so the message can be delivered to God's people. The prophet used his body as a tool to co-work with the angel in the cosmic survey. The cosmic order in the healing landscape is experienced bodily and personally, foretasting God's covenant of wellbeing (peace/shalom). The journey of the visions is a breakthrough which brings cognitive reconstruction of the bitter reality of the exile as well as healing to the prophet's mind.
