The aim of this research was to evaluate the effects of ivermectin, levamisole, and imidacloprid & permethrin (Advantix(superscript ®)) for Thelazie callipaeda infection in dogs. Clinical symptoms include epiphora, and ache of the eye. Conjunctivitis, keratitis, and cornea ulceration may also be observed. Treatment modalities include directly removing the worm with forceps, application of eye drops and injection. Seven Thelazi-infected dogs with frequent scratching and rubbing of the eyes as well as ocular discharge were used in this study. Numerous white translucent worms were observed in the subconjunctiva sac. The species was confirmed to be The/az/a cal/ipaeda by EM. The infected dogs were divided into 3 groups for treatment with ivermectin, levamisole and imidacloprid & permethrin. One month later, all dogs were free of the parasite. The 2% levamisole solution may cause discomfort. Follow up for 3 months showed no evidence of T callipaeda infection in any of the treated dogs.
